Maintain Your Center

Wow, there's been a lot of stuff going on since I last wrote. Travel, training, building, and buying. Thanksgiving came and it was time to get into the holiday groove. At the same time, work on our big project took off. And at the same time, an important trip and some good training came about. And, did I mention the Christmas shopping??

As I was shopping yesterday for some friends and some of my nieces and nephews, I recognized that inner desire that retailers want to capitalize on: buy, buy, buy! Now, that's not a bad thing, for the most part, and our economy can use all the help it can get, but when the focus of the purchase become 'it feels good to buy', the whole purpose of the gift looses its meaning.

So, as I salivated and glared longingly at all the glistening goodies, I caught myself and was able to refocus on keeping my True Center, the One that makes everything else have meaning, the One that the season is really about.

We talk about and train to keep our center in every situation (kumite, kata, kihon, peaceful situations, confrontation, self-defense, etc), because then we can move quickly, smartly and strongly. And I have been reminded that its even more important that I keep my True Center centered...then, I can live deeply, wisely and strongly.

Merry Christmas!
